Let's start with the stadium
The first stop on the route is the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano sports complex: more than 80 sports facilities in one part of town. A stadium, football pitches, indoor halls, pools, tennis and padel courts, a skate park, a BMX track and parkour areas.
I always start with the Olympic Stadium, built in 2018. Its stands seat 2,100, and around the 105 by 68 metre natural grass pitch run eight 400-metre lanes. In 2019 it hosted the 99th Spanish Athletics Championships: 610 athletes competed in 42 events.
Note the dates: the sports complex grew step by step. La Nucía won the National Sports Award in 2012 and built the stadium only six years later. The association of European capitals of sport, ACES Europe, has twice named it a European City of Sport: in 2013 and in 2024.

4/4From the stands to the calendar: events all year round
While we are in the stands, look at the calendar. In 2025 La Nucía hosted 169 sports events, which brought the town more than 800,000 overnight stays. The 2026 season opened in February with the international Boxam Elite boxing tournament, in May came the European judo open, and at the end of May and start of June the Spanish under-14 and under-16 athletics championships. On 17 and 18 October the town hosts the Critérium and Gran Fondo cycling race.
For you this means something simple: 169 events a year is more than three a week on average, and the town lives by sport not only in the beach season.
On to the pool and the clubs: what residents get
From the stadium we go to what you will need every day. In the municipal sports schools children do athletics, basketball, volleyball, football, gymnastics and Valencian pilota. The town has more than 40 sports clubs: judo, taekwondo, karate, aikido, cycling, triathlon, hockey, badminton, swimming. For schoolchildren the town runs six free after-school programmes right in the schools.
For adults I show the tennis and padel courts, the skate park and the bike park. The indoor municipal pool with its gym is being completely refurbished in 2026: the new operator is investing more than 1.5 million euros, replacing equipment and air handling and half of the roof, and fitting solar panels. Opening is set for September 2026, and sign-up for the 2026-2027 season opened back in summer.

Next stop, the school, and who is happy here
Families with children. Clubs, a pool and a stadium next to home answer the question of what the child does after school. For school there is an international option in the town itself: since 26 July 2023 Elian's British School of La Nucía has taught the International Baccalaureate IB Diploma, in English and Spanish.
Active retirees. A morning swim, evening padel and clubs give what many move to the Costa Blanca for: a rhythm and a circle of friends, not just sunshine.
Remote workers. A workout before the working day and a sports club instead of office acquaintances. Benidorm is about 15 minutes by car and Alicante airport about an hour.
And now let's see where to live
The town itself is small: about 18,600 residents, almost a third of them foreigners, most of them British. There are few new builds, and they come in different formats: from flats in a development with a pool to villas on their own plot.

Hear about launches first
On Telegram I write about new phases and sales launches before they reach the site, plus my reviews from building sites.
Subscribe on TelegramLa Nucía Pines offers two-bedroom flats with parking and a storage room already included, with handover expected in September 2027. The best buy on the price list per metre is the top floor: above the flat there is a private 79 m² solarium for breakfasts and evenings outdoors, and the metre comes out a third cheaper than for a middle-floor flat. To be clear: the metre is lower because of the 79 m² solarium; by living area alone it is 6251 €.
Amiral gives you a house on its own plot with a pool and parking for three cars, and every villa has underfloor heating. Per metre it is the most affordable home in the table, because 122 m² of terraces are added to the two living floors.
Vila Natura suits those who want a villa with a 5 by 3 metre pool and a solarium for less money. Casa Eme is already built: an 800 m² plot, four bedrooms, and you can move in without waiting for construction.
The town also has four-bedroom townhouses at NWCIA Village, with a communal infinity pool, a heated jacuzzi and a padel court. I will send you the latest price list in a private message.
VAT of 10% and stamp duty of 1.4% are added to the price, plus the notary and registry.
What it means for a buyer
The sports complex is an investment by the town hall that you get together with the home and do not pay for through community fees: you pay only for a pass or a club when you use them. The stadium, courts and clubs are already built and running, and the indoor pool is being fully refurbished in 2026.
I see La Nucía as a place to live, not for a two-week holiday. The sea is 5-9 km away here, and you need to accept that from the start: you drive to the beach. In return you get a town where life around sport goes on twelve months a year. If what matters most to you is family, health and rhythm rather than a sea view from the window, La Nucía is worth coming to see.
If you want to walk this route in person, write to me: I will show you the sports complex and the projects in one day. Your price is the same as with the developer, and I explain separately why you are better off with me.
