Cumbre del Sol is a residential area on the slopes of the Puig de la Llorença, 435 metres high, in the municipality of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. The municipality lies on the Marina Alta coast between Cap de la Nau and Cap d'Or. In 2015 the ninth stage of La Vuelta finished here, on Cumbre del Sol.
To the south the coast drops to the sea in cliffs, with a footpath running along them. Below is Moraig cove, with a pebble beach and turquoise water, flying the blue flag in 2026. At the mouth of the cove the sea has carved the Cova dels Arcs: an underground river flows out to sea through it, and on calm days sunlight shines through its arches. The cave began to form about 60,000 years ago.
The municipality has about 4,900 residents, and according to the INE register 61 in 100 are foreign nationals, twice the share in Benidorm, most of them British. The village itself sits on a hill a few kilometres from the sea, with vineyards on the slopes of the Llorença.

New homes here are mostly villas with their own pool. I show Cumbre del Sol to people who want a house on the mountain above the coves rather than the promenade of a big town.
