The Marina Baixa is the coastal district running from Villajoyosa to Altea, with Finestrat, La Nucía and Polop behind them in the hills. I bring them together on this page because buyers rarely choose a town; they choose a way of life.
By the sea stand Villajoyosa, with its colourful fishermen's houses and the Marina Baixa public hospital, Benidorm with its skyscrapers, and Altea with its blue dome above the bay. The tram links them: from Alicante through Villajoyosa to Benidorm, and on through Altea to Dénia.
A little inland the mountains begin. The Puig Campana, 1,410 metres, rises over Finestrat, the Ponoig over Polop, and the Serra de Bèrnia behind Altea. La Nucía lives by sport: its sports complex has more than 80 facilities.
